Washington Waste Management

The Bureau of Economic Analysis estimates that Washington's total state waste spend in 2011 was $25.9 billion. Per capita business recycling expenditures in 2011 were $32,705 per company which ranked Washington 26th in the nation. Washington's most efficient recycling industries for waste optimization include aerospace, transportation equipment, food processing, chemicals, printing/publishing, electrical equipment, light manufacturing, and beer. The retail waste management expenditures were closer to the 30th percentile with waste haulers, waste brokers and trash brokers being the major recipients of this waste spend.

Internal waste audits show an upward trend by both managed haulers and both the trash outsourcing and waste outsourcing industries. The agriculture products of Washington are beef, soybeans, pork, dairy products, hay, corn, poultry, sorghum, cotton, rice, and eggs all of which can be composted but so not to affect dumpster costs. Washington is ranked in the top five states in the nation for total savings on the waste spend and the state's "lower my trash bill" campaign utilized in Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, Bellevue, Kent, Everett, Yakima, Renton Spokane Valley and Federal Way, resulted in an across the board 12.9% savings for all waste billing and waste management fees.

As of 2011, there were 108,000 farms, the second largest number in any state after Texas. These farms compost and as well as utilize vermi-composting to optimize their waste as well as manage their recycling. Washington environmentalists have found that by providing information, educational opportunities, and technical support in partnership with state, national and regional organizations that corporations can cut their waste spend in half while. When providing information and technical support to help consumers, business, institutions, and governments to reduce waste, recycle and buy recycled products, waste brokers and the trash brokers are improving their relationships with managed haulers and optimizing the best trash hauler services.

When we reduce waste through consumer purchasing decisions, particularly at the retail waste level, Washingtonians all enjoy lower dumpster costs and the ability to lower my trash bill. By recovering waste with safe and affordable systems for collection and processing all the retail waste brokers make more money and by promoting pollution prevention and the efficient use of resources to protect the air, water and land, we all benefit from efficient waste solutions. One of the most obvious benefits of recycling and solid waste management is that as managed haulers become more efficient, particularly in working with waste brokers and trash brokers, less waste ends up in landfills and on the ground.

Another large benefit is that new products are being created from recovered recyclables mostly from the retail waste management sector. This waste focus and other environmental waste solutions are part of a universal environmental program designed to help everyone with their waste spend, drop dumpster costs and perform a waste optimization that will lower my trash bill, lower your trash bill and make waste outsourcing a profitable business for the state.
